For customers with disabilities
Follow these guidelines to ensure your train travel remains a safe, pleasant and convenient experience.
- Check the accessibility of the stations you need to use on www.cityrail.info under 'Station details' or in the Accessing CityRail brochure. Alternatively, call 131 500 or ask staff at your departure station
- You can use mobility aids (up to 130cm long and 80cm wide) on stations and trains. Larger mobility aids are difficult to manoeuvre safely on stations, lifts, level crossings and trains
- On platforms, park your mobility aid sideways so that you are parallel to the yellow line, not pointing towards or away from the track
- If you are using a wheelchair or motorised scooter always apply the brakes when on a station platform or train
- Give way to pedestrians and travel at a walking pace on stations and trains
- Petrol-fuelled devices are not allowed at CityRail stations or on trains
- Storage facilities for mobility aids are not available at CityRail stations
- Portable boarding ramps (80cms wide) are available for customers using mobility aids and others who need assistance to board the train. The maximum load allowed on a portable boarding ramp is 300kg
- If you need a boarding ramp to board the train please phone your departure station (visit www.cityrail.info for phone numbers) prior to travelling so station staff can be ready to help you. You can also use the boarding assistance zone and the guard will be able to help you to board the train. Boarding assistance zones are marked on wheelchair accessible platforms in the suburban area
- Station staff cannot operate mobility aids, lift or carry customers or their mobility aids, or attend to a customer's personal care on trains or stations. If you need assistance of this kind while using CityRail services, you will need to travel with a friend or carer.
